ÆN are a Berlin-based post-punk band formed in 2023. Their music deals with alienation, migration, political unrest, prejudice and hope, and with the tension of building a life somewhere else. The songs feel like fragments of memory, lost conversations, late-night drives, or a movie you can’t quite remember the name of.

The songs usually begin with something personal and open onto something larger. Intimacy unfolds against political unrest, leaving is both physical and emotional, and questions of belonging come up without easy answers. ÆN are less interested in documenting events than in what those events leave behind: uncertainty, distance, memory, and the ways people adapt.

None of this is abstract for the band. All four members have built their lives away from where they were born, and the songs are written from inside that experience.

The name comes from the same place. ÆN looks like something you should recognise, but it isn’t immediately obvious. For the band, it stands for finding your own place in the unfamiliar.
